Natural Athletix©:
What is 'Natural Athletix'?
The Tokon Academy 'Natural Athletix' programme is a completely organic programme designed to train and improve an individual's body in a completely natural way. With no syllabus as such, the programme develops as the performer trains and progresses and it is the functionality and diversity of 'Natural Athletix' that makes it so enjoyable.
Utilising the most simplistic forms of natural movement, and to the untrained eye, 'Natural Athletix' may resemble gymnastics (tumbling), Yoga, Pilates and or modern Olympic weightlifting as most if not all the movements and training methodologies are derived from these fantastic disciplines. Nevertheless, by definition 'Natural Athletix' is derived from the simplist forms of exercise prescription and as a result the participants aim and objective is to use whatever necessary to achieve and develop a high level of
General Physical Preparedness
(GPP) for competition in any one of the other programmes on the Tokon Academy curriculum.
What does the programme involve?
A typical class of 'Natural Athletix' may include skipping, plyometrics, speed/agility and quickness (SAQ) work, sprint training, bag and pad work, Olympic lifts, box jumps, basic tumbling routines, rope climbing, stretching, etc. all combined to work the individual in a naturally athletic way. The emphasis is for the whole body to be used throughout the whole session without forcing or prescribing the development of fitness.
Can anyone train Natural Athletix?
Definately. Our 'Natural Athletix' programme is designed for anyone of any age and ability as each component part of the training is based on the performers natural movements and ability at time of practice.
How good are Natural Athletix for fitness?
Combining all of the sports and athletic pursuits already mentioned has to be one of the most beneficial ways to increase fitness coupled with the naturalistic nature of each session there is no better programme.
Do you have grades in Natural Athletix?
No.
What do I need to start?
In terms of equipment all the performer needs is space. Space to incorporate all the necessary movements to develop and enhance through the natural phases of motion, obviously the more equipment an individual has to utilise the better. For a complete novice adequate matting, weights (Olympic right down to regular hand/ankle weight), Fit ball, medicine ball, resistance bands, skipping rope and chinning bar are more than enough. But all 'Natural Athletix' session can be completed outdoors with NO equipment at all.
Who will teach me?
All 'Natural Athletix' classes at the Tokon Academy are taken by head coach David Webb.
