Tokon Academy charity event
(Copied from Help For Heroes Website)
Help For Heroes was the idea of Appeal Chairman Bryn Parry and a group of friends and relations, many of who have connections with serving servicemen and women. Bryn and his wife Emma wanted to do something to help the wounded and came up with the idea of a sponsored bike ride. They mentioned it to some friends who mentioned it to some more friends and suddenly Help For Heroes was born and growing fast. A flurry of visits to various offices led to the campaign being blessed by the head of the army, Chief of the General Staff, General Sir Richard Dannatt.
Help For Heroes is backed by the Army Benevolent Fund, the Army's own charity that does wonderful work for soldiers and other servicemen and women both directly and through its support of other service charities.

Very often those of us that have no connection to the armed services sit at home not giving a second thought to those servicemen and women thousands of miles away working tirelessly to protect those that need protecting, risking lives for the sake of their service. "it's their job! Quit complaining!", "...they understood the risks when they joined up."
Just two examples of ignorant quotes so readily thrown around when the topic of discussion shifts to the work servicemen and women do all over the globe. The point is that these same servicemen and women are not the individuals doing the complaining in fact they do just get on with it! Whilst most serving personnel know of someone killed during a conflict many more are left with the consequence of war and the impact it has on their bodies and families. I feel it is our duty to raise as much money as we can to support this charity and increase the funds right across the board that are so readily needed by those injured across the world in conflict.
